Zach Pilchen
Senior Legal Counsel, United States Environmental Protection Agency
Zach Pilchen graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, with a double major in Environmental Policy and Government. In an attempt to merge these two passions, he decided to focus his studies at Lewis & Clark Law School on environmental and natural resources law. During his time at law school, Zach Pilchen has spent two summers in the Honors Law Clerk Program at U.S. EPA headquarters. Other legal experience includes legal research and analysis of a novel Clean Water Act issue for Perkins Coie LLP, and a clinical position with the District of Oregon’s U.S. Attorney’s Office on issues involving environmental crimes.
During his time at Lewis & Clark Law School, Zach Pilchen participated in several moot court competitions, including the school’s First-Year Moot Court Program, which he completed with honors, earning awards for the top brief in his legal writing class and the top oral argument in his courtroom. In 2012, Pilchen competed as a National Finalist in the National Moot Court Competition–the largest moot court competition in the country–where his team's brief placed third overall.
